Dr. Maurno provides gentle, specific, chiropractic care. He utilizes a wide range of techniques from Diversified hands-on adjusting to Thompson Drop to Upper Cervical Technique to various instrument adjusting tools (Arthrostim, Activator, Percussor).
Dr. Maurno is an expert in SOT Chiropractic and Cranial work and utilizes these to balance the body.
We treat everyone from infants to Senior Citizens, from desk jockeys to weekend warriors, from recreational sports players to professional athletes. We treat pregnant woman during and after pregnancy. We treat slip and falls and auto accidents.

Sacral Occipital Technique
SOT chiropractic is a system of anaylizing the body to prioritize what type of chiropractic care is most appropriate for your condition.
SOT stands for Sacro-occipital technique and focuses on the relationship of your scacum and cranium and problems in between and around the body.
A series of muscular and neurological indicators help categorize your problem into several catagories.
Catagory 1- disruption in the natural flow and pumping mechanism of CSF(cerebral spinal fluid) throughout the dura surrounding the spine and brain from sacrum to cranium. Basically, the hydraulics of our CNS (central nervous system) are not pumping well.
Catagory 2- a weight bearing misalignment and/or instability of the sacroiliac joint, causing extensive muscular protective patterns. When your pelvis and SI joints are unstable , we often see knee, shoulder, foot, neck, jaw , and head problems as well. This is the most common problem coming into the office and is a product of seated living, weak core and sprain /strain injuries.
Catagory 3- acute disc problem or muscular spasm mimicking a disc problem. A series of low force decompressing type blocking techniques are used to help the body recover from this crisis.
Cranial work- diagnosis and releases of tension patterns in the skull and dural system and also balances the TMJ.
CMRT- chiropractic manipulative reflex techniques help restore proper neurology and blood flow to organs starved of nerve or blood supply.
Extremity adjustments- restore proper movement and alignment to our many extremity joint from hips , knees, ankles, feet to shoulders, elbows, wrists,and hands.
One of my favorite parts about SOT, is that it is an umbrella of analysis which tells you where the primary problems are and how to adjust them. This understanding works well with many adjusting techniques including Diversified, Thompson Drop, Upper cervical, Activator, and many others. We customize the techniques that are most appropriate for you based on your problem, age, body type and conditions.

Dr. Thomas Maurno was born and raised in Coral Gables, Fl., where he graduated from Coral Gables High School. Dr. Maurno recieved his bachelors degree in Biological Sciences from Florida State University before attending Life University's Doctor of Chiropractic program. Dr. Maurno became a licensed chiropractor in 1997 and began what is now 27+ years of post-graduate education in SOT(sacro-occipital-technique) and is a certified SOT practitioner. Dr. Maurno has been serving the South Miami, Coral Gables, Pinecrest, Coconut Grove, High Pines, and Miami area for 24 years.
